Where: York Sunbury Museum
When: July 28th, 2010
Time: 11:30am-1:30pm
Cost: Free for York Sunbury Museum Historical Society members! Non-Members $5

This summer we are having an Adult Series for the York Sunbury Historical Society members. Next Wednesday, July 28th, you are invited to attend a morning series to see the guest artist, Chris Colwell (Clay), who will be at the NBCC Kirkbride’s Fine Crafts shop from 11:30am-1:30pm.

You then can move into the museum to see the Fredericton Arts Alliance artists, Cynthia Ryder (Jewelry) and Leigh Merritt (Pottery). These two artists will be in the museum from July 24th until the 30th for their week of interning with us.

After you have seen all of the artists, the YSM staff will do a brief overview of what has been going on within the museum all summer thus far, with coffee, tea, and snacks to be provided.

A little bit about the FAA artists…

• Cynthia Ryder is a multi-disciplined artisan specializing in one-of-a-kind, cold-connect jewelry and stone cutting. She also works in photography, visual, literary and other media. During her residency Ryder will be completing entries for MAGNS’ 2010 exhibition “Metamorphosis”. These pieces are made from sterling silver, stone, and alternative materials, and exemplify the creativity, craftsmanship, and originality that only artist-made jewelry possesses.

• E. Leigh Merritt was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and currently resides in Tay Creek. After completing his BA at St. Thomas University, he went on to earn his Diploma in Fine Craft in ceramics from the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design. During his residency, Merritt will be throwing pots on the wheel using cone six porcelain.
