Collections Assistant
This grant usually approves one position each year. We apply for two SEED/PEP positions each year. Often, this student divides their time between both jobs, the other being the Visitor Services Officer.

Job Title: Collections Assistant

Language(s): English, bilingualism (French and English) would be an asset
Position Description/Responsibilities
The Collections Assistant will assist with the collection inventory as well as secure, organize and maintain documentation relating to the holdings in the collection and ensure that current records are available as required.
Brief Description of Duties
Handling objects using correct object handling techniques; physical inventory of artefacts by fully documenting each object (checking accession numbers, updating files, noting location); digitally photographing artefacts; completing condition reports; database entry; and minor re-housing of artifacts.
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
The Fredericton Region Museum is open 7 days a week during the summer and students are expected to be available to work days, week ends and evenings.
Desired Qualifications
Minimum second year student (preferably in History or Anthropology) with excellent computer skills (MS Office and database), strong organizational, teamwork and multitasking skills, research and writing skills, a demonstrated attention to accuracy and detail, able to maintain organized and effective files and documentation, both in paper and electronically, ability to lift and carry 40-pound boxes unassisted, ability to work independently and on detailed tasks as well as have an appreciation for antiquities.
