Research Services We Provide
Our collections consist of a wide range of objects, including books, newspapers, family and personal papers, organizational records, genealogical materials, maps, paintings, prints, postcards, weapons, militaria, glass plate negatives, textiles, furniture, ceramics, glassware, personal artefacts and 19th–20th century photographs.
Research Services:
The York Sunbury Historical Society is pleased to offer research services to anyone with questions about the history of Central New Brunswick. We receive many enquiries from people all over about buildings, individuals and events in the city's past.
Enquiries that do not require research are directed to individual members who may be able to help. We cannot guarantee an answer and there is no charge for this. Requests for extensive research are often referred to one of the excellent researchers on our register, we are not involved in the arrangements made between you and the researcher.
Provide us with your specific questions with concise background information and we'll see if we can provide you with any information or we can forward your request to a researcher who can assist you. If an answer is readily available the office will spend up to half an hour on the request and time beyond that will be billed at $15/hour plus expenses (Shipping and handling at cost, photocopies $0.25 per page). YSHS members receive a 10% discount on research services. The fee is nonrefundable and research results are not guaranteed. Inquiries are answered in the order received. Please allow 4 weeks from receipt of payment for a response.
We are glad to offer historians and researcher access to our little library and records during our regular hours or by appointment for the price of admission. YSHS members do not pay admission.
For enquiries about our archival material please refer to the the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick who has generously offered to house them. Catalogued items are listed in findings aids that can be downloaded in PDF format.
