Abstract:
Article provides an examination of New Brunswick flora based on geographic setting which is supplemented by information from geologists and climatologists. Plants are an important part of our heritage and provide insight into society such as medicinal purposes. An important aspect for botanists is to determine “native” or “immigrant” species.

"CFNB Radio Fredericton and the People Who Built It" by Don Roberts

Abstract:
Article investigates the beginning of CFNB radio, which was started by businessmen by J. Stewart Neill in 1922. First station came on the air in 1923 and broadcasted to 5 households in Fredericton. As wattage increased and the station expanded the audience grew. The article chronicles the struggles through the Golden era of radio, the Second World War, and afterwards.

"Disease and Disability: Poliomyelitis and Rehabilitation in New Brunswick 1941-1955" by Gillian Liebenburg

Abstract:
Polio epidemics especially the one in 1941-42, and 1952, served as a catalyst for the provincial government to increase their share of health care responsibility. Epidemic polio was one of the most dreaded diseases found in mid-twentieth century Canada. Kathleen Walker a physiotherapist became an essential component of starting a rehabilitation program.

"The Local, National and International Contexts of UNB's Strax Affair" by Peter Kent

Abstract:
The Strax Affair occurred at University of New Brunswick during the 1968-69 academic year. Dr. Norman Strax was the only faculty member to join a group of students who were protesting the summer decision of the university administration to introduce photo ids to be used by students and staff. After demonstrations at the library, and the suspension of Strax; the students began occupying his office room 130 for 46 days, which was designated Liberation 130.
