Historic Architectural Features of Central New Brunswick
Every summer Fredericton holds a special series called the Culture Crawl. It's several evenings during the summer months when cultural institutions open their doors, admission free, for a couple of hours to give people the opportunity to explore.
This year the theme is Architecture and the York Sunbury Museum featured the art work of Linda J. Bartlett. Linda finds inspiration in the historic architectural details of Fredericton and surrounding area as well as the heritage and countryside of New Brunswick and the Maritimes.
Linda completed two years of Fine Arts training at the Saint John Vocational School in the late sixties. She has been painting for the last thirty years, more frequently over the last ten years. She works primarily with acrylics but has been known to use oils and watercolours.
Linda is in the process of building an art studio on the riverfront in Sheffield. It is considered a sculpture, an ongoing project designed and built personally by her. She is planting a meditation cedar maze surrounding a secret garden in the back yard. Over the years, a great deal of time, effort and funds have been invested in her creative endeavours. It has been an interesting and enjoyable experience for Linda.
The staff at the York Sunbury would like to thank Koral LaVorgna for her assistance with the research for this exhibit.
